in representation of the OAS, during the FIU-AMPATH Workshop: Fostering
Collaboration and Next Generation Infrastructure held in Miami, Florida,
January 29-31, 2003. This Conference, sponsored by the U.S. National
Science Foundation and the Florida International University of Miami, was
attended by researchers that participate in collaborative projects between
the U.S., Canada, AMPATH service area, Europe, and Asia/Pacific.

Annual Meeting of the Co-coordinating
Committee for Intercontinental Research Networking - CCIRN (http://www.ccirn.org)
carried out at the National Science Foundation, Washington, D.C. US,
June 22nd. 2002. Representatives of Asia, Europe, and North America
attended this meeting, in which Dr. Saúl Hahn made a presentation on
the latest connectivity-related advances in Latin America and the
Caribbean, highlighting the latest fiber-optic cables in place in the
Americas as well as the region's advanced Internet connections,
including through Internet2. This presentation is also displayed by the
